Apart from its contributions to engineering, agriculture, biology and medicine, colloid science also has an important role to play in reducing the harmful effects of technological development. Many pollution problems are due to the presence of unwanted colloidal materials and their removal (from air or waterways) calls for the application of colloid chemical techniques. (2)
